According to a report from The Music Void, Apple’s new refreshed version of MobileMe will include a major music component called the “locker.” The update, which is expected in April, will reportedly have a mere $20 annual price tag.
Also according to the report, Apple has secured a deal with the Warner Music Group, which it is using to secure arrangements with other music groups, which would essentially allow them to make purchased iTunes music available wirelessly to iDevices – both on and off your home network.
A deal would provide iTunes customers with a permanent backup of music purchases if the originals are damaged or lost, said the people. The service also would allow downloads to iPad, iPod and iPhone devices linked to the same iTunes account, they said. The move would be a step closer to universal access to content centrally stored on the Internet.
Previous rumors have suggested a free MobileMe service impending. I, for one, suspend judgement on this info until I hear something from a few more sources, or at least a far more high-profile and accuracy-rated source. What are your thoughts? Sound off in the comments!
